Smithsonian Running Horse Weathervane in Pure Copper

A weather vane is designed to indicate the direction of the wind and is typically mounted atop rooftops, barns, or towers. While originally used by farmers and sailors to monitor wind patterns, today's weather vanes remain essential tools for weather observers and serve as charming accents to any building. This elegant, thoroughbred design, dating back to 1850, has become a timeless favorite for adorning rooftops, garages, cupolas, barns, and gazebos.

Since 1982, Good Directions has crafted pure copper weathervanes renowned for their exceptional style, enduring quality, and fine attention to detail. This exquisite heritage piece—part of the prestigious Smithsonian® Collection—is handcrafted by skilled artisans and built for effortless installation. Each set includes a copper figure, solid brass 18" directionals, copper spacer balls, and an assembly rod, all engineered for durability and ease of setup. (Note: 401AL Roof Mount sold separately.)

Every component is selected with longevity in mind. The copper weathervanes feature 100% pure copper figures and balls, paired with solid brass directionals, for a classic and resilient finish. The aluminum weathervanes are made entirely from premium aluminum, including directionals and spacers, for a lighter yet equally robust option. A powder-coated steel rod is the foundation, ensuring lasting strength and resistance against the elements.
