Cast stone is durable but requires care during winter freeze-thaw cycles, which can damage moisture-retaining statues. It is best to bring it inside, but if the statue is too large, cover it with burlap and wrap it in dark plastic to protect it. When placing the cast stone statue, the ground should be permeable, like gravel, pavers, or concrete; putting it on soil, mulch, or grass may cause damage.
